How effective are YOUR links?

When your site is finished and you begin your link building efforts, its easy to get lost in the work.  It happens to most people, and if you have never really done any link building before you can always waste valuable time.  Hopefully we can help you minimize the loss of valuable time.

Its easiest to understand if you don't consider all links to be equal (because they are not).  Most search engines have an algorithm that creates a score to justify most of their results.  The back links to your site are calculated into that score.

Now, think of the most common types of links.  The links that should come to your mind should be social bookmarking and directory submission.  Why are those the most common?  Well its because you can outsource that type of link so easily.  Search engines know it takes very little effort to create that type of link.

In most cases the harder to create the link the better it will serve you.  For example a link from a direct competitor that sings your praises is pretty hard (almost impossible) to get, links through really amazing articles, links from really popular blogs or popular forums those are harder to create.

You are really only limited by your imagination when creating links.  There are so may places to create and capitalize on the power of link building, but remember where you spend your time.  All link building can be time consuming.  Make sure you are spending time on the right links.
